WorkDay Café Opens in LaPlace

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

St. John the Baptist Parish – St. John the Baptist Parish President Natalie Robottom, Administration, Council Members Marvin Perrilloux, Cheryl Millet,  and a host of family and friends joined owners Chris and Karen Scioneaux for a ribbon cutting to commemorate the opening of Work Day Café on Monday, June 23. The new cafe is located at 607 Belle Terre Blvd, Suite 4 in LaPlace.

Also on hand for the ceremony were James Fondren from Senator Vitter’s office, representatives from the River Region Chamber of Commerce and St. John United Way, local business owners and Louisiana Small Business Development Center Business Continuity Consultant Wayne Aucoin.

Work Day Cafe is a family-friendly, old fashioned-style restaurant that offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options originated from homemade recipes. Options include specialty sandwiches, soups, salads, po’boys, specialty coffees, biscuits, grits and more. Lunch specials are offered daily.

Chris Scioneaux desired to open a café after working 20 years at a local industry tasked with the decision of where to eat each day. “My wife and I wanted to give business personnel and working folks more options for breakfast and lunch than fast-food restaurants,” said Chris. “You can’t beat the freshness of our ingredients and products,” he added.

Workday Café is open six days a week, Monday and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  For more information, please call (985) 359-2233 or visit Workday Cafe on Facebook.
