During the month of October, the nation recognizes women who are battling and who have battled breast cancer. It is also a time to educate women and encourage them to take action early.
St. John the Baptist Parish has placed pink ribbons on the trees outside the Percy Hebert Building and the Edgard Courthouse to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Parish employees will also have pink ribbon pins, and bracelets to wear throughout the month of October.
Since pink is the color associated with breast cancer awareness, we are encouraging all residents and businesses to wear pink. Businesses are also invited to show their support by placing bows, ribbons, wreaths, etc. outside their buildings or offices in recognition of breast cancer awareness month.
"My administration is in full support of breast cancer awareness month and I encourage others in the parish to show their support as well. It is critical that women learn more about preventative measures and treatment options for this disease, and having a dedicated month to raise awareness is a good start," said Parish President Natalie Robottom.
