St. John the Baptist Parish - The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory until 6:00 p.m. for portions of Southeast Louisiana including St. John the Baptist Parish.
Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected to impact the area this weekend, with the greatest threat occurring tonight into tomorrow. Although the threat of severe weather is low, one or two thunderstorms could become strong and produce frequent lightning, gusty winds and heavy downpours of rain. Rainfall totals are predicted to be one to two inches with locally higher amounts possible.
Public Works and Utilities will be on hand in the event issues arise with drainage and utility systems this weekend. In an effort to prepare for this rain event and due to the possibility of high wind gusts, residents are also encouraged to assist in cleaning up catch basins and drainage systems as well as clearing yards of debris. Please dial 9-1-1 to report any emergencies or to report flooding.
