Chlorine Burn for Westbank of St. John Parish

Chlorine Burn for Westbank of St. John Parish

Tuesday, April 1, 2014

In an effort to maintain the new level of chlorination recently required by the Department of Health and Hospital’s Emergency Rule, the Utilities Department will be conducting a free chlorine burnout of its water distribution system on the Westbank of St. John ONLY. The burnout will begin on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. While no issues have been experienced with the St. John water system, the chlorine burn is an added precautionary measure.

Westbank residents MAY notice a change in the smell and taste of the water during this process; however the water remains SAFE to drink. Residents are advised to run the water through the tap for several minutes to decrease the change in smell and taste. Residents do not need to boil water or take any additional precautions during the chlorine burn.

For more information, please contact the St. John Parish Utilities Department at 985-651-6800 during normal business hours. Your cooperation and patience is greatly appreciated.
