ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – St. John the Baptist Parish will participate in the 16th annual Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day on Saturday, March 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the New Wine Ministries parking lot at 1921 W. Airline Hwy in LaPlace.
Household materials to be accepted and properly disposed or recycled are: oil-based paint, latex paint, solvents, tires (limit five per vehicle and one delivery only), automotive and other rechargeable batteries, household cleaning products, acids/bases, used oil, antifreeze, aerosol cans, fluorescent lamps, pesticides, herbicides, scrap metal, major appliances, used computers and electronics. Items that will NOT be accepted include explosives, ammunitions, medical wastes, unidentifiable materials, compressed gas cylinders and radioactive wastes.
The event is sponsored by local industry as a community service and for the disposal of residential hazardous wastes only. Please do not bring wastes from commercial or government facilities.
