Armed Robbery-Homicide Investigation Update

On Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at 2:36 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Officedeputies responded to the 100 block of Sleepy Redwood Street in LaPlace for the report of anarmed robbery of the LaPlace Feed and Supply. When deputies arrived on the scene, theyfound two victims that sustained gunshot wounds.
Steven Finckbeiner, 63, succumbed to his
injuries on the scene; the second victim, Constance Finckbeiner, 58, was transported to an areahospital for treatment. No one else was injured.

Investigators released video surveillance and asked for the public’s assistance inindentifying the two people in the video. The video footage is accessible at these links:

Anyone who can identify the subjects in the video is encouraged to call the St. John theBaptist Parish Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.  Citizens with information about this incident that call Crimestoppers do not have to testify incourt and may qualify for a cash reward.
