Fusion Youth Outreach Center Holds Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – St. John Parish President Natalie Robottom and Councilman at Large Division A Lucien Gauff joined overseer/founder Renita Graber, her staff and a host of family members and friends for the grand opening of Fusion Youth Outreach Center on Saturday, February 15, 2014.

The center, located at 924 Carrollwood Dr. (above Saint Optical), is designed to aid in the development of local youth academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually in a loving, nurturing atmosphere. The grand opening consisted of a ribbon cutting with food and fellowship, a visit from the St. John Fire Department and a worship and musical celebration later that evening.

Fusion Youth Outreach, spawned from the vision and ministry of Renita Graber, helps to equip youth ages 13 to 21 with the tools necessary to make wise choices and to have a positive impact on the community.  Graber and her twelve team leaders are at the center every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. to offer mentoring and tutoring assistance, as well as time for worship, arts, dance, drama, film and singing.  “Opening Fusion was one of those things that just had to be done,” said Graber.  “If we want to see a change, we have to become the change we want to see.  Instead of joining in conversations about the youth I had to put myself in position to do something about it.  Opening Fusion’s doors took the weighted burden out of my mind and heart and put it into existence.”

One of the primary focuses of the Outreach is to help youth discover community service and engage in experiences that promote giving back, including service days and retreats.  “Fusion opens yet another opportunity for the youth of the parish to be successful,” said Councilman At Large Division A Lucien Gauff. “With its’ after school programs, computer lab, and tutoring sessions, anyone looking for help can find it.”

More information on Fusion Youth can be found online at and on Facebook.  Anyone interested in joining the outreach or donating/partnering with the center can contact Renita Graber at (985) 212- 0553.
