Parish President Robottom’s Advisory Committees (PAC) Hold Their First Meeting

Over 60 citizens, civic leaders, employees, and parish leaders gathered this past Monday, June 14, 2010 in the Joel McTopy Council Chambers of the Percy Hebert Building to meet with Parish President Natalie Robottom and Chief Administrative Officer Marie Brown-Mercadel.  The PAC members received introductions from all committee members as well as information about the current functioning of all parish departments.

Christel C. Slaughter, of SSA Consultants, was also present at Monday's meeting to help facilitate the advisory committee meeting process and provide operational planning and consultation services.  Administration will utilize Mrs. Slaughter's services to ensure the development of a strategic plan that will provide the most benefit to the parish.  Accordingly, Mrs. Slaughter will attend each committee's initial meeting to assist with procedure and ensure compliance with President Robottom's objectives.

The advisory committees will work over the next 60 days to analyze the work of their respective committees, compile its recommendations and deliver a written report on August 16, 2010.  All committee meetings are open to the public and will provide residents with information regarding parish operations.  Schedules for the first meeting of each committee can be found on the Parish's website, and are as follows:

Governmental Ethics:  June 24, 2010, 3:00pm to 5:00 pm at Rotolo' s Pizzeria, 3503 Airline Hwy., Reserve;

Public Safety:  June 24, 2010, 6:00pm to 8:00pm at EOC Conference Room, 1801 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace;

Employment & Economic Development:  June 23, 2010, 3:00pm to 5:00pm, at Parish President's Conference Room, 1801 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace;

Community Development and Neighborhoods:  June 24, 2010, 2:30pm to 4:30pm, at Planning & Zoning Office, 102 E. Airline Hwy., LaPlace;

Recreation, Arts, and Culture/ Health and Human Services:  June 23, 2010, 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at LACE, 516 E. Airline Hwy., LaPlace;

Finance:  June 21, 2010, 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at Parish President's Conference Room, 1801 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace;

Human Resources:  June 23, 2010, 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at Parish President's Conference Room, 1801 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace;

and

Infrastructure and Capital Improvements:  June 23, 2010, 4:00pm to 6:00pm, at Public Works Trailer, 1801 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace.
