East Bank Residents Asked to Conserve Water

Thursday, November 21, 2013

As a result of a power outage at the Lyons Pump House, the St. John the Baptist Parish Utilities Department is currently asking

all east bank residents to conserve water and refrain from non-essential uses until further notice. The power outage is the result of downed power lines that cross the Mississippi River Levee.

Entergy crews are working to repair the power lines in order for power to be restored at the Lyons Water Plant pump house. Water is being supplied from LaPlace to the Reserve, Garyville, Mount Airy areas.

It is critical that all residents in LaPlace, Reserve, Garyville, and Mount Airy begin conserving water immediately. Residents are asked to refrain from washing clothes, running dishwashers, watering lawns, washing vehicles, and all other activities that require using large quantities of water. As conditions change, additional information will be provided. We apologize for the inconvenience.
