St. John Parish’s Annual Independence Day Celebration

St. John Parish’s Annual Independence Day Celebration

Parish President Natalie Robottom along with the St. John Parish Council are hosting the 10th Annual Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 2nd.  The fireworks display is handled by Pyrotecnico who works with the Coast Guard and the State Fire Marshal's Office to ensure all safety measures are taken.  The Mississippi River is closed to ship traffic while the fireworks are ignited from a barge.

Over the years attendance has consistently grown to 9,000 people viewing the show on both the east and west banks of the river.  Residents may gather on the grounds of St. Peter's Church in Reserve or the Courthouse in Edgard.  The fireworks show begins at 9:00 p.m. and lasts approximately twenty (20) minutes.  Refreshments are sold.  The event will be filmed and broadcast live on the government access channel (Channel 15) so residents can view from home.

"I hope to see many residents at this year's Independence Day celebration.  However, if they cannot attend, they can enjoy the live broadcast on Channel 15", said Parish President Robottom.
