St. John the Baptist Parish says farewell to Tropical Depression Karen as the storm track moves Northeast posing no threat to the area. Conference calls with GOHSEP and other elected officials have concluded and extended hours of the Emergency Operations Center hours have ended. The voluntary evacuation for residents North of I-10 to Manchac has been lifted however residents are advised to use caution in that area due to water on Hwy. 51 and Peavine.
Residents can expect cooler temperatures starting this evening throughout next week as a cold front moves across the region. Rain chances remain through Sunday evening with wind speeds of 10-15 mph.
