Monday, September 16, 2013

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH– St. John the Baptist Parish and the Keep St. John Beautiful Committee are gearing up for the Fall Clean Sweep scheduled Saturday, September 28, 2013.

Clean Sweep is a parish wide clean-up day involving hundreds of volunteers from schools, government agencies, churches, civic organizations, home-owner associations and industry.  The fall event will kick off at 8:30 a.m. at the Highway 51 Park with distribution of garbage bags, gloves, trash clamps and t-shirts.

The Clean Sweep Committee has targeted major thoroughfares for cleaning, but encourages residents to clean areas around their homes and businesses. Churches and neighborhood associations are also asked to pitch in with a focus on neighborhoods in which they are located.

In appreciation of the volunteers and their commitment to keeping St. John beautiful, free food, refreshments, and music will be provided following the clean-up activities at the Highway 51 Park.    Groups and individuals wanting to participate are asked to sign up in advance at or contact Dana Milioto at 985-652-9569 to reserve specific neighborhoods or public areas.  Supplies can be picked up in advance on Friday, September 27 at the Percy Hebert Building from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or on Saturday, September 28 at Highway 51 Park.
