In accordance with mandates which have been established by the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals, St. John the Baptist Parish is in the process of implementing a cross connection control and backflow prevention program. Part of the mandate establishes who is required to install a backflow preventer for the protection of the potable water supply system. The parish will begin implementing this program within the next 45 days. Approximately 1200 customers will be impacted by this mandate.
A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, October 7th at 6:00PM to discuss the impact of this program on local businesses. This hearing will be held in the Joel McTopy Council Chambers located at 1801 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.
"I encourage residents to attend the public hearing to receive specific information about the program and to have the opportunity to have their questions and concerns addressed," said Parish President Natalie Robottom.
