Andouille Festival and Pageants Scheduled for October

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – The 40th Annual St. John the Baptist Parish Andouille Festival will be held Friday, October 18 through Sunday, October 20, 2013 featuring music, good times and great food. Applications for food, arts, and craft vendors are now available online at www.andouillefestival.com or at the St. John the Baptist Parish Government Office, 1801 W. Airline Hwy in LaPlace. All vendor applications are due by Friday, August 23, 2013.

As the festival approaches, so does the competition for the title of Miss and Teen Andouille Queen.  The 2012 Miss Andouille Queen Madaline King and Teen Andouille Queen Heather Roussel will relinquish their crowns at the annual Miss and Teen Andouille Pageants scheduled for Saturday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. John Theatre.  This year’s theme is “The Great Andouille”, a spin off the novel and recent film, “The Great Gatsby”.To be eligible for participation, contestants must be single, childless, a resident of St. John the Baptist Parish and between the ages of 13-16 for the Teen Division and 17-23 for the Miss Division, on the date of the pageant. The competition for each division consists of an interview and on-stage walk. 

This year, the St. John Miss Andouille Queen will travel to Washington, D.C. in February to attend the Washington Mardi Gras Ball as well as tour historical sites such as Arlington National Cemetery, the United States Capitol, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. Miss Andouille will also visit with their U.S. Representatives and Senators, the Governor of Louisiana, and many elected officials and representatives of Louisiana. The deadline to register for the Teen and Miss Andouille Queen Pageants is Wednesday, September, 25 2013.  Applications for the pageant will be available starting September 1 at www.andouillefestival.com or for pick up at the St. John Parish Government Office.  Applications can be mailed or delivered to Dana Milioto at 1801 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace, LA 70068 before the deadline.

As activities and events are finalized, additional information will be released and placed on the Andouille Festival website at www.andouillefestival.com.
