ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH - St. John Parish Communications Director Paige Falgoust has been selected to participate in the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute (NORLI) Class of 2014. Falgoust was selected through a competitive application process focusing on leadership ability and commitment to the community. Falgoust is the third member from St. John the Baptist Parish Government to participate in the prestigious program. Planning & Zoning Director/Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Angelic Sutherland recently graduated as a member of the 2013 NORLI Class and Parish President Natalie Robottom graduated in 2012.

About 40 people from the New Orleans Region have been selected to participate in this year's nine month program designed to promote regional collaboration by providing a network to enhance personal leadership skills, while examining issues critical to the advancement of the region. Participants grow as individuals and gain a better understanding of the many facets of their community, examine important local issues through diverse viewpoints, and network for the future. "It is an honor to have been selected as a member of the NORLI Class of 2014. I look forward to improving my leadership skills, expanding my knowledge of today's issues, and creating relationships with other leaders throughout the region," said Falgoust. "My ultimate goal is to bring the skills and information learned in our classes to my work in our community."

The institute begins with a two-day overnight retreat followed by seven monthly full-day educational sessions and ends with another mandatory two-day retreat. Each month's session focuses on issues of concern to the region, such as public policy, the environment, economic development, education and workforce development, diversity, crime and public safety and healthcare. Throughout the program, presentations will be made by community and government leaders to stimulate discussion. "The benefits of participating in NORLI are incalculable," said Parish President Robottom. "NORLI creates opportunities to develop organizational, problem-solving and networking skills needed to thrive as a government administrator. I look forward to continuing to build capacity within my staff as additional members participate in this institute."
