Work Will Result in Delays for Motorists

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH– Beginning Sunday, July 14, 2013, crews from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will be elevating Interstate-10 fifteen inches in Laplace. The $1.3 million project will eliminate a low point in the roadway and add asphalt to the existing roadway in an effort to address the flooding problem due to storm surge that surfaced during Hurricane Isaac.
Asa result of this work, motorists should expect alternating lane closures on I-10 east and westbound from Sunday, July 14 through Sunday, August 11 between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., nightly, weather permitting. One lane will remain open at all times. Please drive with caution through the area and be on the lookout for work crews and equipment. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Westbound motorists may detour this roadwork by exiting 1-10 at Exit 209 in LaPlace (Highway 51), traveling south on US 51 (Highway 51 ) US 61 (Airline Highway) , north on US 61 to LA 3188 (Belle Terre Blvd), then north on LA 3188 to I-10.
Eastbound motorists can exit 1-10 at Exit 206 (Belle Terre), then south on LA 3188 (Belle Terre Boulevard) to US 61 (Airline Highway), south on US 61 to US 51 (Highway 51) then north on US 51 to I-10
