12-Year-Old Warriors Advance to World Series

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – The St. John 12-year-old Warrior Recreation All-Star Baseball Team won the Dizzy Dean State Tournament on Sunday, July 7, advancing to the World Series in South Haven, Mississippi.

The Warriors defeated the Jefferson Parish Parks & Recreation Department team (JPRD) to capture the state title with an undefeated record of 3-0.  Under the direction, of head coach Wayland Martin and assistants, Carl Stemley, Darnell Jones, Keith Gibson and Andre Simmons, the Warriors will compete in the Dizzy Dean World Series July 19-25.

The 6, 9 and 11-year-old St. John Warriors will play in the World Series Tournament this weekend.  “I am very proud of the 12-year old team for advancing to the next level and wish the 6, 9, and 11 year old teams the best of luck this weekend.  We look forward to them bringing home the Championship trophy again this year,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom.
