St. John Parish President Natalie Robottom joined members of the Fire Department and her administration to celebrate the unveiling of the newly renovated fire station located at 801 Walnut Street in Laplace. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the station took place on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. This event was open to the public.
The existing station was renovated in partnership with the parish public works department, volunteer and paid fire department personnel, and Edgard Remodeling. Funding was made available by the LaPlace Volunteer Fire Department. The renovations will allow the station to be manned on a twenty four hour basis. This will decrease response time and provide better service to the residents on the east side of LaPlace.
"I am very pleased with the renovations to the Walnut Street Fire Station which now includes amenities for firefighters to be housed 24 hours per day. This is critical as it permits enhanced fire protection services to our residents in East Laplace" stated Parish President Natalie Robottom.
