ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH –The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Watch for St. John the Baptist Parish until Friday at 7:00 a.m. As the result of a strong system moving across the region, Southeast Louisiana including St. John the Baptist Parish is expected to experience isolated showers and thunderstorms during that period of time. Currently, severe weather is not anticipated; however, stronger thunderstorms may produce wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph.
Residents are asked to continue removing any debris from catch basins and storm drains during breaks in rain events to assist with drainage due to anticipated heavy rains through Friday. Please avoid placing debris in ditches, drainage canals, on the side of that road may impede drainage or become projectiles. Residents should use caution when going outside and when on roads. Please refrain from driving in flooded streets if possible. Public Works and Utilities crews will be on hand in the event of an emergency during the night; however residents should report any issues or concerns to 9-1-1 immediately.
