Health & Human Services Summer Employment

St. John the Baptist Parish Council’s Dept. of Health and Human Services is currently accepting applications for the following temporary position(s) for its Summer Food Service Program.

Applications can be dropped off to the Health and Human Services Dept. located at 128 Central Ave in Reserve, M-F 8:00am-4:30pm or at the Edgard Courthouse, Council Office. For more information, contact Department of Health and Human Services at (985) 536-4955.

 

The program runs from June 3, 2013 – July 18, 2013 (M-Thurs only; closed July 4th, 2013).

Site Supervisor - DUTIES: Responsible for planning menus in accordance with USDA guidelines; maintaining communication with food vendors; provide oversight to program staff; traveling among program sites as needed; reviewing invoices and other records from all sites; preparing reports, food safety and personal hygiene training log. Supervise and evaluate Managers records and sites. REQUIREMENTS: Previous experience in position desirable. Must have a valid LA driver’s license and driving record acceptable to Parish’s Risk Manager. Minimum age of 18. SCHEDULE OF WORK: 7:30a.m.-2:30p.m.

Manager DUTIES: Responsible for management and oversight of summer food service program on site cafeterias including supervision of Cooks and Site Helpers; ensuring food preparation is in accordance with planned menus and menu requirements; placing food orders; maintaining accurate inventory, delivery, meal and labor records. Supervise technicians and site clerks work habits to ensure that safety, sanitation and personal hygiene rules are followed. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 2 years experience as manager or supervisor of a cafeteria. Must be willing and able to fill in as a cook as needed. Ability to lift up to 45 pounds, stand for long periods of time and withstand temperatures typical in a cafeteria setting. Work cooperatively with those encountered in the course of work. Walking, carrying, bending, reaching, handling, pushing and pulling required. Minimum age of 18. SCHEDULE OF WORK: 7:00a.m.-1:30p.m.

Cook-DUTIES: Responsible for food preparation and service in accordance with planned menus; maintaining kitchen area; providing assistance with daily cafeteria start-up and shut-down. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 2 years of experience as cook in school cafeteria required. Ability to lift up to 45 pounds, stand for long periods of time and withstand temperatures typical in a cafeteria setting. Must notify supervisor promptly in case of absence and communicate in advance the date of return so proper provisions can be made. Work cooperatively with those encountered in the course of work. Walking, carrying, bending, reaching, handling, pushing and pulling required. Minimum age of 18. SCHEDULE OF WORK: 7:00a.m. – 1:30p.m.

Program TechnicianDUTIES: Responsible to assist the Site Supervisor with inventory forms, invoices, and xerox copies. Must have a working knowledge of how to order and maintain food and supply records. Must have the ability to maintain the records in the absence of the site supervisor. Check incoming food/supply orders against food order requests. Provide a copy of the weekly records to the managers. Answer the telephone and obtain detailed messages. Work cooperatively with those encountered in the course of work. Must have a valid LA driver’s license and driving record acceptable to Parish’s Risk Manager.REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 2 years experience in a school cafeteria as an assistant manager or equivalent position required. Minimum age of 18. SCHEDULE OF WORK: 7:30a.m. – 2:30p.m.

Site Clerk/HelperDUTIES: Responsible for assisting with food preparation and distribution; assisting small children to their seat; light housekeeping include emptying trash receptacles and placing in dumpster, cleaning tables and floors; providing light clerical support and assisting manager as needed. REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up to 45 pounds, stand for long periods of time and withstand heat typical in a cafeteria setting. Work cooperatively with those encountered in the course of work. Walking, carrying, bending, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling required. Minimum age of 16. Anyone seeking employment under the age of 18 must provide a work permit from the local school board with their application. SCHEDULE OF WORK: 9:30a.m. – 1:30p.m.

Site MonitorDUTIES: Responsible for supervision of multiple food services sites; ensuring that site operations are in accordance with program guidelines; maintaining records; acting as liaison between food services sites and the Health & Human Services Department. REQUIREMENTS: Travel among various sites is required; applicant must have an insured personal vehicle and a valid Louisiana driver’s license. Driving record must be acceptable to Parish’s Risk Manager. Previous experience with Summer Food Service Program as a monitor or supervisor desirable. Work cooperatively with those encountered in the course of work. Ability to stand for long periods of time and withstand temperatures typical in a cafeteria setting. Minimum age of 18. SCHEDULE OF WORK: 7:00a.m. – 1:30p.m.
