ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – A slight risk of severe weather including isolated thunderstorms is expected to impact the area late tonight and continue into Thursday as a cold front moves across the region. Damaging winds will be the primary threat during the weather event but the potential for large hail, frequent lightening, heavy rain and isolated tornados cannot be ruled out. Residents are advised to use caution when venturing outdoors and operating vehicles in severe weather.
Public Works and Utilities crews will be on hand in the event issues arise with drainage and utility systems. In an effort to prepare for this rain event, residents are also encouraged to assist in cleaning up catch basins and drainage systems in the neighborhoods. Residents are asked to call the 9-1-1 Emergency Center to report any issues or concerns during the weather event.
Please stay tuned to local weather stations for weather updates and changes in the forecast.
