The St. John Parish Parks & Recreation Department will wrap up its 2012-2013 Biddy Basketball All-Star Season with several teams advancing to championship tournaments this month. The Department will also host the 9-year-old Biddy Basketball State Championship Tournament this Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17 at REGALA gymnasium in Reserve. The championship tournament will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday with the 9-year-old St. John Warriors scheduled to play at 7:40 p.m.
The 14-year-old Warriors will compete in the Biddy Basketball All-Star International Championship March 15-20 in Slidell, finishing their regular season with a record of 2-2 at the State Championship in Houma. The 12-year-old All-Star team will also vie for the Biddy Basketball International Championship with its success at the Regional Tournament in Kenner on March 8. The 10-year-old Warriors are set to travel to Madisonville this Saturday in the quest of the Regional Biddy Basketball Championship.
The 8 year old Biddy Basketball All-Star team recently completed their season at the National Championship Tournament held in Thibodaux. Although they were defeated by Slidell, the Warriors kept them to a 3-point win. The 11-year-old St. John Warriors fought hard at the State Championship held in Houma, however, fell short, losing to Slidell and JPRD East by less than ten points each game. “We want to congratulate all of our 2012-2013 Biddy Basketball teams and we are very proud of their accomplishments,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom.
