| St. John increases adoption fees at Shelter- 4/23/2008 - The St. John Parish council approved an ordinance submitted by the Department of Public Safety to increase the adoption fees at the St. John the Baptist Animal Shelter. The fees will now total $100 per adopted animal, an increase from the previous amount of $85.00.

| Sugar Refinery breaks ground in Reserve- 4/15/2008 - On a beautiful, yet strangely crisp April morning, officials from Louisiana and St. John Parish government joined representatives from Cargill and SUGAR (Sugar Growers and Refiners, Inc) to break ground on what will eventually be a $185 million dollar state-of-the-art sugar refinery in Reserve, Louisiana.
