Parish Officials alert Jindal of legal flaws in Garyville Petition- 4/23/2008 - In a letter to Governor Jindal, three of the top ranking elected officials in St. John the Baptist Parish placed their signatures in a message detailing what they see as major legal flaws in the petition filed to incorporate Garyville, Mt. Airy, and parts of Reserve.
Council gives green light to lights on Interstate Exit- 4/23/2008 - resolution approved by the St. John Parish Council will now be forwarded to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Resolution 08-14 offered by Councilwoman Millet states that the resolution approves a local match of 10% of the construction cost for a lighting project to install roadway lighting on the Belle Terre Interstate Exchange.
St. John increases adoption fees at Shelter- 4/23/2008 - The St. John Parish council approved an ordinance submitted by the Department of Public Safety to increase the adoption fees at the St. John the Baptist Animal Shelter. The fees will now total $100 per adopted animal, an increase from the previous amount of $85.00.
St. John Parish gives Community Leader due honor- 4/22/2008 - On a bright Saturday Morning, family members and St. John Parish Officials gathered at intersection of Convention Center Blvd and Hwy. 51 in LaPlace to commemorate and rename Convention Center Blvd. to the Stephanie 'Nikki' Wilking Drive.
Parish Officials plan to inform voters in Garyville, Reserve, Mt Airy regarding Incorporation- 4/18/2008 - After a meeting of Parish President Bill Hubbard, Sheriff Wayne Jones, Tax Assessor Whitney Joseph, Jr., and legal counsel; it was determined that an effort to inform the voters of the proposed incorporation should be undertaken preceding the proposed election.
Sugar Refinery breaks ground in Reserve- 4/15/2008 - On a beautiful, yet strangely crisp April morning, officials from Louisiana and St. John Parish government joined representatives from Cargill and SUGAR (Sugar Growers and Refiners, Inc) to break ground on what will eventually be a $185 million dollar state-of-the-art sugar refinery in Reserve, Louisiana.
SWDI to move operations to a new site in Reserve- 4/14/2008 - The company that services St. John Parish for its garbage disposal will soon be located at a new location in Reserve, Louisiana. Currently, SWDI is located on Central Avenue in Reserve and has a large portion of its operations behind resident's homes.
St. John enacts stricter paid vacation / sick time policy for Administration- 4/8/2008 - Parish President Hubbard submitted a revised Paid Leave policy to the St. John Council for their approval at the regularly scheduled council meeting April 8, 2008. The proposed changes affect all administrative staff (non-Civil Service employees of St. John the Baptist Parish Council).

Hubbard declares April as Keep St. John Beautiful Month- 3/26/2008 - The month long effort to create greater public awareness regarding the need to clean up St. John will be jump started on April 4th and 5th when St. John Parish, Keep St. John Beautiful, St. John Sheriff’s Office, and several civic groups join forces to clean several areas of the parish.
