FEMA ASSISTANCE INFORMATION

For individuals who have not yet registered with FEMA: if the applicant has access to the internet applicants can register though the main web-page at www.fema.gov and click on the link titled "Register for Assistance."      If web access is not available the FEMA Registration lines 1-800-621-FEMA are operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and wait times may be decreased during off-peak hours between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. local time and on Sundays.  If a call is disrupted, the applicant should call back. Calls are also answered in the order received, so applicants should not hang up while waiting – it will only delay being served.            Listen to media announcements for locations of recovery centers or mobile registration units that may be in ourarea to help them register for assistance.          Each call is individually addressed and reviewed, and that is a time-intensive process.  For individuals who have registered and are seeking information about their application:    Individuals may check the status of their applications through the same link as above on the FEMA main page.  HOWEVER, they should not complete a new application as this could delay assistance.  Instead, they should follow the prompts for checking their application status and reviewing their application.       FOOD STAMPS REGISTRATION:  Hours: 8 am - 8 pm

New Wine Christian Fellowship at 1929 West Airline Hwy in LaPlace. Registration will be from until September 25, 2008. Residents are required to bring proof of identification, income, and residency. Residents can also go to www.dss.state.la.us or www.sjbparish.com for more information and eligibility requirements.  For more information call 1-888-LAHELPU (1-888-524-3578)
